Abstract

Nowadays, effective and learner-centered approaches in foreign language teaching are gaining increasing importance, and constructivist learning models stand out in this context. This study theoretically examines how the 5E learning model, based on a constructivist approach, can contribute to the teaching of the four fundamental language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in foreign language education. Rather than being an applied activity study, this research is based on a literature review and instructional recommendations. The integration of each phase of the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate) into the development of different language skills has been discussed, and various suggestions for teachers have been provided. The findings anticipate that the 5E model, especially with its learner-centered nature, can increase student motivation in the language learning process, support lasting learning, and encourage cognitive engagement. In conclusion, it is emphasized that the 5E model can offer a versatile and functional approach for teachers and curriculum developers seeking an effective method in foreign language teaching.
